I love having photos of my family. It is a LOT of work to get photos done but after all is said and done I feel like it's always worth the effort involved. In my ideal world, we would get family photos taken 2x a year (summer and winter) and the kids get individual photos taken every 6months. To a lot of people this sounds extreme (insert my husband here, ha!)--which it sort of is. However, I truly LOVE photos. I treasure every single one we have had done and it's one of the few things I really think is priceless. Documenting the lives of my babies and our family as we grow, progress, evolve, etc is precious to me! Luckily, my husband usually lets me get *almost* all of those photos done each year- which is something because he actually detests having his photo taken.
For our Christmas card photo this year I wanted to go a route I have never gone before. GLAM! I found a beautiful vintage maxi dress (and vintage skirt), got William tuxedo pants and velvet blazer, Nora had what I liked to call a "snow queen" dress, and Chris wore a suit. I typically plan our outfits the week of (!), I wish I could say I was better at planning ahead - I always have the intentions!! I always book our photographer and date about 4-6 weeks ahead and mean to shop in that time, but I tend to forget and then rush at the last minute.
We took these gorgeous photos in the snowy mountains of Utah. Living back there for such a short time, I wanted to have a family photo documenting what I love most - the mountains.
Happy Holidays! Love, The Spikers
